Altmans Abroad

Meanwhile, our juniors are continuing their second semester abroad. Living everywhere from Chile to Austria, they're sure to bring new international perspectives with them when they return to campus in the fall.

Keep up with the Altmans!

We're very proud of our scholars. Read more about their activities and achievements in the News Section of our website.

The Altman Program in International Studies & Business is a special four-year undergraduate program that integrates liberal arts and business disciplines, extensive language instruction, and two study abroad experiences. Altman Scholars earn two degrees -  a B.A. from the School of Liberal Arts and a B.S.M. from the A. B. Freeman School of Business. Altman Scholars specialize in a region of the world in which their chosen foreign language is spoken, and will be able to combine practical and theoretical knowledge of global economies with deep cultural and linguistic competency.

The Altman Program prepares students to become leaders in today’s increasingly interconnected world. Such leaders must be adaptable to changing professional and cultural circumstances and need flexible broad-based skill-sets to adjust their professional goals to evolving opportunities and markets.  Above all, they also need to communicate effectively with citizens of their own and other cultures. The integration of a broad liberal arts education with a practical business degree will allow Altman Scholars to succeed in diverse career paths including international business, finance, marketing, politics, law, diplomacy, public health, consulting, and/or the non-profit world.

This challenging dual-degree curriculum provides students with a broad liberal arts perspective and a practical business education that will enable them to be successful in a variety of career paths.

The Altman Program provides students with an Altman-specific course each semester, a cohort summer study abroad trip between freshman and sophomore years, and financial support for junior year abroad and internships. The program was established thanks to the generosity of Tulane alumni Jeffrey Altman and welcomed its inaugural class in Fall 2012.
