The TAA Community Outreach Task Force has been working hard to identify a project that could involve the alumni clubs at their local level, engage alumni & students, and do something good for the "greening" of their communities. We're calling the project "Wave of Green". After exploring many options, the Task Force converged on the idea of having our alumni clubs plant one or more trees within a month in our communities. We started small our first year in 2009 and are on our way to reach our goal of tree planting around the world every year.
Because of Tulane's commitment to "going green" dollars raised* will be matched by the university and go back to the local communities of alumni clubs that participate. Participation dollars can have double the impact so please consider making a donation.
*Up to $100 per club
WHAT: The project objective is to plant trees in communities around the nation. Tulane Alumni Clubs will participate in tree-planting in each Club's local community.
Where: Anywhere you wish! Some clubs may want to help new homeowners via "Habitat for Humanity" programs in their area. Others may want to work with a Parks Authority, or other local "Green" entities (i.e.: Re-leaf New Orleans). Still others may want to choose a site that is special to their Club members.
Remember, even planting one tree will help, so this will be a fun, easy and important nationally coordinated Tulane event. Your Club's participation is critical to our success.
