General Clinical Research Center

The General Clinical Research Center (GCRC) provides resources which are necessary for the conduct of clinical research. It offers the clinical research infrastructure to investigators who receive their primary research funding from the NIH. The GCRC is intended to provide an environment for studies of normal and abnormal body function and for investigations of the cause, progression, prevention, control, and cure of human disease; to provide an optimal setting for controlled clinical investigation by scientists supported through the PHS or other sources; to encourage collaboration among basic and clinical scientists; to encourage, develop, and maintain a national corps of expert clinical investigators; to serve as an environment for training other health professionals in clinical research; and to provide resources in which advances in basic scientific knowledge may be translated into new or improved methods for patient care.
