Targeted CBR Funding
The CBR provides seed funding for promising research projects to help secure extramural funding or to strengthen the university's portfolio of research in strategic areas of interest. Proposal submission is by invitation only. Please contact our director at firstname.lastname@example.org for further information on areas of interest and the proposal submission process.
Past funding includes:
- Support for a postdoctoral research fellow to work with EEB faculty member Sunshine Van Bael on plant-endophyte responses to oil exposure following the Deepwater Horizon oil spill.
- Support for a graduate student to work with EEB faculty member Caroline Taylor and EES/LUMCON faculty member Alexander Kolker on geological and ecological forces that build and stabilize coastal wetlands.
- Support for a graduate student to work with EEB faculty member Jordan Karubian on the demography of brown pelicans, focusing on the use of GPS-enabled tags to reconstruct movement patterns in unprecedented detail.
- Support for sociology faculty member Dr. Laura McKinney to complete preliminary field work to characterize the health hazards posed by the Superfund site in Jennings, Louisiana.
