Tulane Climate Change Action Day

Date: Tuesday, January 30, 2018
Time: 9:00 AM - 6:00 PM
Building: Lavin-Bernick Center (LBC) in Room 213
Location: uptown campus
Other Information: Kendall Cram Lecture Hall

Tulane Climate Action Day is a day of interdisciplinary discussions of climate change and approaches to action. The keynote speakers will be Dr. Timmons Roberts, a sociologist from Brown University active politically on climate change and social justice; and Dr. Katharine Hayhoe, Texas Tech University, a climate scientist who has gained a well-deserved reputation nationally speaking to Christian audiences about the need to act on climate change. The day also includes sessions on "Climate Justice: Socio-environmental Change and Collective Responses," "Living with Water: Tulane's Place in the Watershed," "The War on Climate Science: Combatting Misinformation and Attack Politics," and a session on student responses.

The schedule follows the undergraduate class schedule to facilitate the participation of faculty, students and classes. The event will also feature campus and community partner information tables, a solution-oriented Design Jam, and posters highlighting student climate-related research and action. This one day of action will encourage participants to be active in climate change mitigation and adaptation throughout the year and in their lives in and out of Tulane.
