Susann Lusnia leads the operation of the University's Center for Engaged Learning and Teaching (CELT) – an initiative that has emerged as part of Tulane’s on-going   accreditation by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools. CELT's mission is to enhance student learning and to pursue the development of engagement-based and experiential curriculums across all University Schools and Centers as well as Newcomb-Tulane College.

Susann teaches courses in Roman art and archaeology, Etruscan archaeology,and life in ancient Pompeii. She is the author of Creating Severan Rome: The Architecture and Self-Image of L. Septimius Severus (Collection Latomus: Bruxelles, 2014), along with articles and reviews in American Journal of Archaeology, Bryn Mawr Classical Review, Classical Journal, The Encyclopedia of Ancient History (Wiley-Blackwell, 2013), Latomus, New England Classical Journal, and Traumatology. She contributed a chapter to the volume Representations of War in Ancient Rome, edited by S. Dillon and K. Welch, published by Cambridge(2006; paperback, 2009). From 2011 - 2013, Susann led the American Academy in Rome's Classical Summer School. Among her honors are an American Academy Rome Prize, a Fulbright Grant, a Franklin Research Grant from the American Philosophical Society, and Tulane’s Suzanne & Stephen Weiss Presidential Fellowship for excellence in undergraduate teaching. Susann earned her B.A. in Latin from Mary Washington College in 1985, and both the M.A. (1990) and Ph.D. (1998) in Classics at University of Cincinnati. She has worked at Tulane since 2000 and is a native of Leesburg, Virginia.

Eric Roque is responsible for managing all budgeting activities and programmatic and administrative operations at CELT. He is also the Program Coordinator for the Louis Stokes - Louisiana Alliance for Minority Participation (LS-LAMP) Program at Tulane where he has worked for the past eleven years to substantially increase the number and quality of underrepresented minority students earning baccalaureate degrees in STEM areas at Tulane. Eric received his MBA from Tulane University in 2009.

Antoinette has a Bachelor’s Degree and is the Senior Executive Secretary who provides administrative support to Dr. Susann Lusnia at the Center for Engaged Learning & Teaching (CELT) to keep the office running smoothly and efficiently.  In addition, she manages her calendar and other office calendars, schedules meetings, and coordinates and manages special events.  She also greets all visitors to the office and oversees ordering supplies for the office and CELT core staff and catering.  Antoinette enjoys working with the CELT Staff and students.  She’s a joy to have in the office.

Toni began her graduate work in 1987 and began teaching undergraduate classes the following year.  The minute she walked into the front of the classroom for the first time, she knew that that was what she wanted to spend her career doing.  She has taught full time at Tulane for over 15 years.  In addition to her teaching, she has an economic consulting practice in which she works with local government and non-profits on a variety of economic impact projects.  Toni has been interested in teaching pedagogy for many, many years and is thrilled to be able to work with faculty at CELT to improve the classroom experience for the undergraduate students at Tulane.

Emily is the Senior Program Coordinator for the Center for Engaged Learning and Teaching (CELT) and will be leading the Fellows as well as assisting with programming. She graduated from Tulane University in 2011 with a B.A. in Latin American Studies and Anthropology, in 2012 she received her M.A. in Anthropology from Tulane. After graduation Emily focused her energy into working with New Orleans youth through programs like College Track New Orleans, as the Tutor Coordinator, and the One Million Bones Project, as the Louisiana State Coordinator. Most recently Emily worked in Santiago, Chile as the National Liaison for the Art of Revolution’s international memorial project En la Luz.
