Newcomb-Tulane College is pleased to accept applications for the Judith and Morris Henkin Memorial Travel Scholarships.
One of the principal goals of Newcomb-Tulane College is to provide support for students to expand their education beyond the classroom. Each year the college receives more requests for support for projects requiring travel than it is able to meet. The Judith and Morris Henkin Memorial Travel Scholarships provide funding for academic enrichment opportunities for undergraduate students at Tulane University. Examples of appropriate projects include travel (domestic or international) for research, internships, service projects, or other cocurricular programs. Henkin Scholarships may NOT be used for study abroad programs.
Each year the fund will provide $3,600 to support qualified student proposals, and awards may vary in size at the discretion of the Dean. Eligible applicants should be in good academic standing at the University (a GPA above 2.0). Applications will be accepted in both fall and spring semesters, and recipients will be required to submit a final report of activities undertaken.
Students requesting funding for research involving human subjects will be required to submit proof of IRB approval before the grant is disbursed; please visit http://tulane.edu/asvpr/irb/index.cfm for more information. Please note that your grant will be reported to the Internal Revenue Service and will, in most cases, be considered taxable income (see IRS publication 970 for additional information).
Applications will be accepted throughout the school year, while classes are in session. Submit your application by 5:00 p.m. on the 15th of the month to receive a decision by the 30th of that month (September through April only). Please note that due to the rolling application process, there may be less funding available as we approach the end of the school year. Therefore, we recommend that you submit your application as early as possible.
