The Oscar Lee Putnam Cultural and Intellectual Enrichment Program provides grants for university students from Louisiana* for research, travel, artistic, and internship projects. Proposed projects may be related to a student's course of study or intended career, or they may allow the student to explore talents or interests not specifically related to a curriculum.
Grants will be awarded for the purchase of research materials and sources, for travel and access to special collections or libraries, laboratory supplies, performance-related expenses, art supplies, and to defray other expenses directly incurred by project research during the summer or academic year 2017-2018. Grant funds may not be used to purchase supplies or equipment that will be retained by the student; i.e., all supplies and equipment purchased with grant funds must be expended during the course of the proposed project. Grants also may not be used to participate in organized study abroad programs or other existing programs; they are intended for student-initiated projects only. The maximum award is $2,000. Recipients will be required to submit a report on their experience during the subsequent academic year. *The Putnam grant program is administered by the Newcomb-Tulane College Office of Cocurricular Programs at Tulane University. Putnam applicants are not required to attend Tulane. All Putnam applicants must use the grant application and financial condition forms which are linked at the top of this page. Tulane students should not use OrgSync to apply for Putnam grants.
