Program planning is often the most neglected element of course/curriculum design for community-engaged teaching. For those seeking a response to the query "why didn't my students get 'it'?", devoting explicit attention to program planning may aid you in strengthening your course design as well as provide a clear avenue for developing a scholarly agenda for your teaching.
