CPS Faculty Scholar Program

Learn More

The Public Service Faculty Scholar Program recognizes one Tulane faculty member each semester for exemplary public service and community involvement expertise. The program seeks to both recognize the faculty member's achievements and to help disseminate this knowledge to the broader Tulane community.

The selected Public Service Faculty Scholar is responsible for proposing, developing, and completing a public service project such as a new service learning course, community-based research project, student and/or community workshop, or a grant proposal.

Additionally, Faculty Fellow will lead one workshop for faculty during their term. The workshop will be developed in cooperation with Center for Public Service staff, and will concern public service/community involvement with regard to the Public Service Faculty Scholar's area of expertise.

Throughout the duration of the Scholar Program, the faculty also co-facilitates one section of the Center for Public Service's 10-week long Faculty Seminar that aims to introduce faculty new to service learning to the pedagogical theory as well as to help them develop a service learning syllabus.
