Student nominations may originate from a student, faculty or staff, or community site supervisor. This award is only open to graduating seniors (or students would graduate in December) who have completed a minimum of 75 hours of public service throughout their undergraduate studies. Finalists will be asked to provide documentation of completed hours.

Nominators or students should complete the online Runsdorf Award Nomination form. Completed award submission will include:

  • a professional resume highlighting their public service experiences during their undergraduate studies.
  • a 500-word page personal statement reflecting on the student's service work during college and the impact its has had on his/her future.
  • a letter of nomination completed by a faculty or staff member, community partner or service supervisor, or someone knowledgeable of the students service commitment.  This can be submitted with the application form, or emailed to

The Runsdorf Award Selection Committee will be comprised of staff from the Center for Public Service and Student Affairs, Tulane faculty, and community representatives. The top 3 finalists will be interviewed, and one student will be chosen.

All award applications will also be considered for the Leaders in Service Student Award.  Students do not need to submit separate award applications.

Applications are due by April 7, 2017.
