National SMART Grant

General Information
The National SMART Grant program was terminated by the federal government on June 30, 2011.  It was available for the first time during the 2006-2007 academic year for certain third and fourth-year students. Eligibility for this grant is determined on a semester basis; a grant award must and will be revised for any semester during which grant criteria is not met.

General Eligibility Requirements
To be considered for the National SMART Grant (NSG) by the Tulane University Financial Aid Office, a student must be a U.S. citizen; be a Federal Pell Grant recipient; be enrolled full-time in the third or fourth year of an undergraduate degree program at Tulane University; making progress towards a qualifying major designated by the Department of Education in physical, life or computer science, engineering, mathematics, technology, or a critical foreign language; have sufficient financial need to allow inclusion of the NSG after other financial aid is considered; and have at least a cumulative 3.0 GPA at the beginning of each semester.
