Tulane's school code for the FAFSA is 002029.

We encourage applicants to use The U.S. Department of Education’s FAFSA on the Web because applying on the Internet offers several advantages over the traditional paper application.

  • It's fast — Students will get their application results in 5 to 7days.
  • It's easy — Students are only asked the questions they need to answer. Questions that don't apply are skipped, making the Internet application quick to fill out. Extensive on-line help is also available. Application entries are edited thoroughly, reducing the number of errors made by students and their families when completing the online FAFSA.
  • It's secure — When FAFSA information is transmitted over the Internet, it is completely secure. The same technology that protects credit card transactions over the Internet is used to make sure that students' data remains confidential. Sending an application over the Internet is as safe as mailing a paper form.

Students can verify the status of their completed FAFSA by going to the web site and selecting from the “FAFSA follow-up” menu. FAFSA applicants can also call The Department of Education to check their status at their toll-free line (1-800-4 FED AID or 1-800-433-3243).

Once a FAFSA is received, the Health Sciences Office of Financial Aid reviews your file. Your financial aid eligibility will be based on your FAFSA data and other application materials. Please refer to the section on calculating need for more details as well as our School of Public Health and Tropical Medicine Cost of Attendance information.

Randomly, applicants are selected by the federal processor for verification of information submitted on the FAFSA. Students selected will receive notification of such on on the Student Activity Report (SAR) that the Department of Education sends to you after your complete your FAFSA, as well as on the requirements page on Gibson Online. The documentation necessary for verification is one of the 2017 - 2018 Verification Worksheets (print the appropriate form, complete it, then sign it and mail it to the address on the form). Additional documents may be required depending upon the information to be verified; please review the Verification Worksheet for details.

Students who were not required to file a federal tax return can complete the 2017-18 Student Non-Filer Form if they are picked for Verification.  Otherwise, this form is not required.

International students should not complete a FAFSA, but should only complete the 2017-2018 Public Health Financial Aid Addendum if they will be applying for private loans.
