Shelley Boles, Sr. Program Coordinator for the Newcomb Art Gallery, has been doing an outstanding job this year and has just followed up with her success of receiving the $5,000 grant from METLIFE for educational program related to our Hatch Show Print, the Art of the American Letterpress exhibition with a $2,500 grant from the Louisiana Endowment for the Humanities. She will present a panel Value of the Poster: Music, Culture, and Traditions on Wednesday, September 30 with Nick Spitzer, folklorist from Tulane; Bruce Raeburn, Curator of the Jazz Archives at Tulane; and Dr. Michael White, author and musician from Xavier. The panel examines music and culture and vernacular of New Orleans and the South. The panel is moderated by Marquette Foley from the Smithsonian Institution. We are extremely grateful to Shelley for her initiative in helping the Newcomb Art Gallery receive outside funding, which expands our educational reach.
