| Better known as
JL, this charming three-story building is one of the four original
buildings on the present Newcomb campus. It is the second Newcomb
college residence hall to be named in honor of the school's
benefactress, Mrs. Josephine Louise Lemonnier Newcomb (the first
was on its 1880s Garden District campus). Many of the rooms
are unique in character and do not have standardized dimensions.
The building offers many popular features such as moveable Shaker-style
wooden furniture; lovely, old-fashioned casement windows and
high ceilings; extra long mattresses; mounted bookshelves; cable
TV and Internet access, and many rooms have a sink and mirror
in one corner.
JL is a non-smoking and female
only hall, and has open visitation with a Desk Service Coordinator
on duty 24 hours a day.
