Advanced Assistant or Associate Professor of Women’s Leadership and Director of Student Leadership and Engagement

Newcomb College Institute, Tulane University

The Newcomb College Institute seeks a full-time, non-tenure track feminist scholar to conduct research and to teach 1-2 undergraduate courses on women's leadership.  We seek an applied researcher with qualitative and quantitative research skills with experience in community engagement and service learning who can design, implement, and assess the impact of our leadership curriculum and programs.  S/he will oversee a department of four that runs the Newcomb Scholars Programs, 20+ student groups, a Residential Learning Community, and applied learning programs. Reporting to the Executive Director, the successful candidate will serve on the leadership team of NCI and manage the budget and supervise personnel for the department.S/he will facilitate faculty involvement in programs and liaise with Student Affairs, Gender & Sexuality Studies, the Office of Multicultural Affairs, and other campus units.We are especially interested in candidates with a record of intersectional scholarship and community engagement who can lead our efforts to connect with diverse groups of women students.NCI selection committee representatives will be at NWSA, APSA, ASHE, and ASA.

QUALIFICATIONS

  1.  Ph.D. in Higher Education, Sociology, Psychology, Women's, Gender, and Sexuality Studies, Leadership, Economics or related field required by date of hire.
  2. Three years of experience working with or teaching undergraduate women.
  3. Administrative ability in strategic planning, personnel management, budgeting, and programming.
  4. Commitment to acquiring and teaching emotional intelligence and a growth mindset.
