Cowen Institute announces advisory board

The Cowen Institute for Public Education Initiatives at Tulane University has formed a Board of Advisors to provide direction and advice for its strategic mission. The board includes local and national individuals who have expertise across several fields. The board will advance the Cowen Institute’s initiatives through their personal and professional networks and contribute to the Institute’s outreach efforts. 

“By improving educational and career pathways for young people, the Cowen Institute is helping the New Orleans community realize its tremendous potential. I am pleased to announce the Board of Advisors,” said Tulane President Emeritus Scott Cowen, who will serve as chair of the board. “I’m honored and excited to help shape the Institute’s work in the months and years ahead.”


Local advisory board members are:

•  Janet Bean, member, Executive Committee, Citizens for 1 Greater New Orleans

•  Matt Candler, founder and chief executive officer, 4.0 Schools

•  Liza Cowan, South Region executive, Global Philanthropy, JPMorgan Chase & Co.

•  Scott Cowen, president emeritus and distinguished university professor, Tulane University

•  Flozell Daniels, chief executive officer and president, Foundation for Louisiana

•  Alan Franco, partner, Magnolia Marketing LLC

•  Robert Reily, vice chair, Greater New Orleans Education Foundation

•  Patty Riddlebarger, director, Corporate Social Responsibility, Entergy Corporation

 

National advisory board members are:

•  Sarah Carr, editor of The Teacher Project at Columbia Graduate School of Journalism

•  Arnie Fielkow, president and chief executive officer, National Basketball Retired Players Association

•  J. Puckett, senior partner and managing director, Boston Consulting Group
