Visiting Tulane and Parking

Visitor Parking

Each year, Tulane University hosts thousands of visitors on its uptown campus for sporting events, concerts, recreational activities and seminars. All vehicles parked on the uptown campus between the hours of 8 a.m. and 5:30 p.m., Monday-Friday, are required to display a University Parking Permit or park in a metered parking spot.  We want your experience on campus to be a positive one and encourage you to become familiar with our parking rules prior to visiting.

Options for Visitors

1. Visitors may purchase one-day and multi-day parking passes at the Parking Services office in the Diboll Complex from 8 am to 5 pm Monday through Friday.

2. Visitors may purchase guest parking at parking.tulane.edu This option allows you to print your parking pass from anywhere.  Single and multiple day options available.

3. Visitors have the option to pay to park on the ground level or in one of the numbered spaces on the second floor of the Diboll Complex.

4. Parking meters are located throughout campus in the marked spots on the campus map. Parking permits are not required when guests park in timed or metered spaces, provided the time limit is obeyed and the parking meter is not expired. Maximum time limits for parking meters are posted on each meter.

5. Reserved all hour spaces are clearly marked and should not be used by visitors without prior approval.

Failure to comply with parking rules may result in a citation.  For additional parking information call 504-865-5424.

Admissions Visitors

If you are visiting campus for an admissions tour, the Admissions office has marked reserved spaces in front of their office in Cowen Circle.  As these spaces are limited, you are welcome to park in an open unmarked parking space if available. Upon entering the Admissions office, they will provide you with a parking pass to put in your car identifying your vehicle. Vehicles that do not have a permit displayed may receive a citation.  Please do not park in any other Reserved all Hours spaces besides Admissions.  Please note that if you park in a metered space, you are responsible for paying the meter.

Visiting Parents

Parents visiting a currently enrolled student can receive a complimentary parking guest permit from the Parking Services office in the Diboll Complex.

Disabled Visitors

Visitors are welcome to park in a Tulane handicap space when displaying their state issued disabled permit.  A visitor may wish to contact the Parking Services office prior to their arrival on campus or as their first stop on campus to request assistance.  Parking Services will assist you in finding the most accessible parking near your campus destination.

Please note:  Your state issued permit is not valid at a campus metered space as it would be in a municipal metered space.

Hosting a meeting or event on campus

Outside groups should inquire about parking for their meeting or event at the same time they reserve other university facilities.  Inquiries should be directed to the Parking Services office.  Prior planning will ensure that your guests are prepared before their arrive to campus and will give everyone a better start to the event.  Parking Services can work with you to reserve parking, purchase parking guest passes or help you arrange for your guests to purchase passes.  We encourage you to initiate this step early in the planning process so that instructions can be sent out with your meeting/event communications.  Failure to display a permit will result in citations being issued.

Attending a meeting on campus

If you are attending a meeting, conference, or event on the Tulane campus you are required to display a permit and park in an assigned area.  The meeting sponsor is responsible for providing you with instructions about parking.  Ultimately, the driver is responsible for parking legally.  If you have not received instructions regarding parking you may either follow up with the meeting sponsor to elicit that information, purchase a guest parking permit or park on a city street adjacent to campus.

Attending an event on campus

If you are attending an event on campus such as an athletic event or theater event, there may be special parking rates that apply.  Please check with the event organizer.
