Front Door

Overview

Biostatistics is an area of applied statistical science that deals with designing health related research studies, analyzing data from such studies, and effectively reporting and communicating results to health researchers and the general public.

Bioinformatics represents an area of interface of molecular biology and computer science, involving research, development, or application of computational tools and approaches for expanding the use of biological, medical, behavioral or health data

The teaching and research programs prepare the student to be part of an interdisciplinary team for conducting medical and public health research. Students learn to extract and report data from existing databases, to create new databases as appropriate, and to analyze these data.  Advanced level students learn to address issues in the development and appropriate use of statistical methods.
