The Travel BugTravel Bug is back and ready for new adventures!

After a well-deserved rest from her worldwide travels promoting the School of Public Health and Tropical Medicine’s milestone centennial celebration in 2012, Travel Bug is back – with some new friends – and ready for more adventures. Summer is here and it’s time for academic travel, sightseeing, trying new foods in foreign places, and making new friends!

The Travel Bug’s popularity and love of being photographed with her human travel mates, and all the terrific people they encounter along the way, prompted her to start a blog to chronicle her trips and share her stories with you.

You can follow the blog at

The school’s cadre of bugs love going on vacations, summer abroad programs, Peace Corps trips, and all sorts of volunteer outreach expeditions, but they also enjoy hanging around the city, attending concerts, checking out the area’s festivals, and enjoying sunny days at the parks, lake, or in the French Quarter.

Travel Bug has already logged 52,000 miles of travel with faculty, staff, and students. She’s ready to join you on your next trip (and so are her friends!). Swing by Tara Brown’s office in Suite 2400 to pick up a travel companion for your next adventure.
