Reading Project Creative Response Contest

 

The Tulane Reading Project invites all first-year students to submit a creative work exploring the concept of resilience in Jesmyn Ward’s Men We Reaped. Submissions may take many forms, including:

  • An essay
  • A short fiction piece
  • A poem
  • An original song
  • Original choreography
  • Artwork
  • Photography

Submissions will be judged by a committee including author Jesmyn Ward. First Place will receive $500, Second Place will receive $200, Third Place will receive $100, and up to three "Honorable Mentions" will receive $50 each. The First, Second, and Third Place winners will also be treated to a meal with Prof. Ward.  

Please submit entries to donuts@tulane.edu with the following information:

  • Name
  • Email address
  • Title of submission
  • Visual art submissions: Please submit one or more photos of the work in .jpg format. If you would like to submit the original artwork, please bring it to 204 Cudd Hall
  • Performance submissions: Please upload a video of your performance to YouTube or Vimeo and provide the URL.

The deadline to submit an entry is September 30, 2015. Winners will be notified by email no later than October 9, 2015.
