Ashley Wennerstrom, PhD, MPH
Assistant Professor of Clinical Medicine

Ashley Wennerstrom is the director of the Louisiana Community Health Worker Institute. She is a co-founder and past chair of the Louisiana Community Health Outreach Network, a local professional group for community health workers. Dr. Wennerstrom is also the Community Health Clerkship Director for Tulane School of Medicine, a required course which educates students about the social determinants of health, the non-medical aspects of patients’ lives such as education, housing, employment, language, environment, nutrition, and safety. From 2008-2010, Dr. Wennerstrom served as associate director of the REACH NOLA Mental Health Infrastructure and Training Project, a community-academic partnered mental health quality improvement initiative. Sarah Goodman is the Senior Program Coordinator for the Ruth U. Fertel/Tulane Community Health Center. She is a member of the Outreach Health and Wellness Team housed within the Brinton Family Health and Healing Center. Angie Kirkland is a Community Health Worker focusing on behavioral health at Ruth U. Fertel/Tulane Community Health Center. Ms. Kirkland is making strides in outreach programming at the Brinton Family Health and Health Center. Ms. Kirkland is a native New Orleanian who has worked in community health for the past 18 years and deeply understands the obstacles people face in getting adequate health resources. Read more »

Fernando Sosa

Fernando has been a community health worker since 2008 - he arrived in NOLA in 1969 from Quito, Ecuador to study engineering and technology. He retired from the oil fields and after Katrina started doing outreach to the Spanish speaking community. His most recent job was with the NOLA Children's Bureau. Read more >>

Hanna Rosenfeld
Project Assistant / AVODAH Corps member

Hanna Rosenfeld is the AVODAH Corps Member for the 2015-2016 year. Originally from Atlanta, Georgia, she is thrilled to be leaving the cold weather behind after spending four years at the University of Pittsburgh where she studied Political Science and Communication Rhetoric.
