Radiation Therapy

Although the word “radiation” may make some people uncomfortable, in the hands of trained specialists it can be used to treat cancer and other medical conditions effectively. In fact about half of all U.S. patients diagnosed with cancer are treated with radiation therapy. Many times radiation therapy is combined with other treatment types such as surgery and chemotherapy to provide the most successful treatment outcomes.

The Radiation Oncology Department at Tulane Cancer Center combines the unique resources of its research medical school and HCA, the largest private operator of health care facilities in the world, to assemble a team of dedicated radiation specialists and advanced treatment technologies. This combination enables the delivery of powerful doses of radiation with incredible precision and the highest level of safety.
