Join us for the 2009 Southern Group on Educational Affairs (SGEA) Annual Conference in New Orleans, Louisiana. The SGEA organization, through its meetings, fosters educational excellence throughout the continuum of medical education – UME, GME, and CME. It also facilitates communication and collaboration amongst our educators and provides a forum for discussing important educational initiatives.The theme of this year’s meeting is “Medical Education: Effective Teamwork Equals Excellent Patient Care.” In keeping with this theme a special track is being established for this initiative. All those who teach and learn in medical education are encouraged to attend. The program promises exciting workshops, oral presentations, small group discussions, posters and a few special events including, including tours of the New Orleans medical schools, a tour featuring the rebuilding of New Orleans and an evening at Mardi Gras World.
Revel in the amazing maze of Mardi Gras props and floats of New Orleans' spectacular showcase of carnival, where thousands of sensational sculptures and breathtaking giant figures are part of the decor year-round. Blaine Kern creates exceptional party experiences with true Mardi Gras magic. Explore Mardi Gras in the den where the floats are made. Enjoy the sounds and the sights of the carnival tradition, complete with food and a jazz band.
The reception is included in the registration fee. Bring a guest! Guest fees are $60 per guest if the reservation is made by March 1; $75 if made after March 1. It’s an evening of sights and sounds you won’t want to miss.
(Tentatively scheduled for Saturday afternoon, minimum 20 participants)
New Orleans is coming back! Join us for a tour of those areas which are experiencing the rebirth. A portion of all tickets for the tour will go to support the Tulane Community Clinics which are bringing valuable medical services to those areas which are still so fragile.
This is an optional tour so registrants and guests are encouraged to register early to secure their seats on the bus. It is NOT included in the registration fee.
