Sixteen Presentations at 2013 BMES Meeting

Results from ongoing research in Biomedical Engineering at Tulane will be presented at the Biomedical Engineering Society’s 2013 Annual Meeting in Seattle. BMES is one of two annual high-impact international meetings in the field. Six undergraduate students are among the authors of these papers, and most have graduate students as first author.

Among the Tulane presentations:

  • Pulmonary Airway Reopening Utilizing Pulsatile Flow Waveforms – Henry Glindmeyer IV (first author) – from Dr. Donald Gaver's lab

  • Ablation of Aggressive Thyroid Cancer Cells with HIFU and Ethanol – Sithira Ratnayaka (first author) – from Dr. Damir Khismatullin's lab

  • A paper-based test for sickle cell disease diagnosis in resource-limited settings – Xiaoxi Yang (first author) – from Dr. Sergey Shevkoplyas' lab
