Graduate Research Opportunities

Submit your application online!Graduate opportunities exist for prospective M.S. and Ph.D. students interested in Fall 2016 admission. The application deadline is December 31, 2016.

Most Earth & Environmental Sciences graduate students are supported as teaching assistants or as research assistants through funded grants; the annual stipend for TAs and most RAs is currently $24,000 and includes a tuition waiver. Competitive fellowships with larger stipends are also available to top applicants for the Ph.D. program.

Factors we consider in accepting graduate program applicants include:

  • GPAs from previous degree programs; note that we can consider unofficial transcripts, but official transcripts must be submitted for accepted students prior to admission
  • 3 letters of recommendation, preferably from former professors
  • A clear statement of research interests
  • The willingness of a faculty member to serve as a research advisor. View List of Faculty ยป
  • GRE scores
  • TOEFL score, only if appropriate, with a minimum score of 90
