The R. A. Steinmayer Award

James Andrew MenkingRecipient: James Andrew Menking

James Andrew Menking is the top graduating senior in the Department of Earth and Environmental Sciences. With an overall GPA of 3.84, he is among the top geology majors ever to have graduated from Tulane. He not only has excelled academically, graduating summa cum laude, but has been instrumental in organizing Geology Club functions and participating on field trips.

Andy plans to start graduate school in January at Central Washington University. He will be studying the contribution of black carbon to glacier melt in the Himalayas and the Cascades.


The Harold E. Vokes Award

Gabriella MarchRecipient: Gabriella March

Gabriella March is one of top graduates in the Geology Program in the last 10 years. She is the type of student that every professor wants in the classroom. Her enthusiasm and curiosity bring life to any lecture or discussion, and she brings a positive spirit to everything she does. Her scholarship is outstanding and her enthusiasm is unbridled.

Gabriella graduated summa cum laude and plans to pursue graduate school in the future.


The 2010 Chairman's Award

William Fuhrer MorrisonRecipient: William Fuhrer Morrison

Will Morrison is among the top graduating seniors in the Geology program in the last several years. He has excelled in his geological studies and has been most helpful on field trips and in organizing department social activities. He is always willing to help his fellow students and has great potential for whatever he chooses to do in the future.

Will is attending field camp this summer and plans to work in the New Orleans area.
