2017 Undergraduate Graduation Ceremony

The School of Science and Engineering will recognize science and engineering August and December 2016 graduates and May 2017 graduates who participate in this ceremony.

The number of guests is not limited.  Tickets are not required.


  • Immediately following the Unified Commencement Ceremony (estimated to end at 11:00 a.m.), participating faculty and graduates report with academic regalia to the Lavin-Bernick Center for University Life – Kendall Cram Lecture Hall, Tulane Uptown Campus to check-in, line-up and instructions.
  • Graduates will check in to pick up their “reader” card to present to the readers on stage.
  • Graduates will be lined up to march and be seated by their major and will process onto the stage by major to receive their diploma cases.
  • SSE Department Chairs and Program Directors will be on stage to congratulate the graduates.
  • Bottled water will be provided in the check-in area. If it is necessary for you to have food before the ceremony, please make arrangements to do so. There will not be a lot of time in between ceremonies so for a quick bite, the food concessions in the Superdome and the LBC Food Court on the Tulane Uptown Campus will be open.
  • There will NOT be a secure place to store personal items in the LBC line-up rooms, e.g. purses, cameras, shoes, etc. during the ceremony.

12:00 p.m. – Devlin Fieldhouse Opens

12:45 p.m. – Faculty and graduates will march in double lines from the LBC to the Devlin Fieldhouse for the ceremony.

12:45 p.m. – Guests should be seated in Devlin Fieldhouse; the procession begins shortly.

1:00 p.m. – Ceremony begins with the procession.

~2:30 p.m. – Ceremony ends with the recessional. Guests are asked to remain seated until all graduates and faculty are out of the building.

A reception with light refreshments will follow the ceremony in the LBC – Kendall Cram Lecture Hall and Qatar Ballroom with the dean’s celebration champagne toast at 3:00 PM.
Guests are invited to join the graduates here to meet the Science and Engineering dean and faculty. A SSE photo back drop will be up for personal photographs.


Photographs by a professional photographer will be taken of the participating graduates during the ceremony.  Candid Campus Photography, the School of Science and Engineering official undergraduate graduation ceremony photographer, will be on hand at the diploma ceremony to photograph graduates receiving their diploma covers.  Photographs can be viewed and ordered within 48 hours after the ceremony at

Science and Engineering graduates should go to to pre-register in order to receive their proofs as quickly as possible following the diploma ceremony.
