Extended Stays

Any student who needs to stay in the residence halls after their designated check-out date must submit their request by May 1 using the Extended Stay Request Form in Orgsync. All students who are approved will be assessed a $150/day late stay fee. Students living in on-campus housing for summer classes will be permitted to remain in their rooms until their summer rooms are ready. See the summer housing page for more information.

Move Out Expectations

All residents must complete one of the two options below for checking out of their room:

  • Use an Express Checkout Envelope and waive your ability to appeal damage / cleaning charges.
  • Schedule a checkout appointment with your RA.

Regardless of the option you choose, please make sure your room is ready to go before you leave. All students will be emailed proper check out procedures and will review these in community meetings. Failure to complete a check out appointment with your Resident Advisor OR an Express Checkout Envelope will result in an improper check out fee of $100 in addition to any damage, key or keycard replacement costs.

Summer Storage

Students must work with a 3rd party vendor to store belongings over the summer, they may not store belongings in their current or future room. Tulane University's preferred storage vendor is Summertime Storage. Students will not be granted an extended stay for a late storage appointment.

Trash, Recycling and Donations

Residents may use trash rooms only for items that fit in trash containers. Large items such as lumber, carpeting, large boxes, etc. should be taken to the dumpster/recycle areas outside of the residence hall.

Trash to Treasure will be collecting in the lobbies of Monroe, Sharp, Wall, Butler, Greenbaum, JL, Weatherhead and Mayer between May 6 - 15. Trash to Treasure will also be picking up large items (futons, large storage units) from Phelps and Irby by reservation only. email If you do not live in these halls, please bring your items to one of the listed locations or to one of the Goodwill trucks on campus.

The main paper and plastic recycling stations will the in the same location they have been in all year. Please start recycling these items now to reduce buildup during closing.

There will be drop off bins for Mardi Gras beads and other recyclable items in building lobbies.

Move Out Parking

Students may park and load vehicles in any marked Tulane parking spot for up to 30 minutes. Select spots on McAlister Drive will be blocked off to serve as loading spots for students. Fire lanes and areas next to buildings will be monitored closely. If a student is parked in a fire lane or other illegal area next to the buildings that inhibits emergency traffic flow, their vehicle will be ticketed.
