Resident Advisor (RA)

Resident Advisors are live-in student staff members who serve as role models and facilitate activities and programs in the residence halls. RAs are vital to building a strong residence hall community, upholding Community Living Standards, holding residents accountable, and managing student concerns and crises.

Senior Desk Service Coordinator (SDSC)

Senior Desk Services Coordinators serve as members of housing operations team and work with the overall maintenance of a residential area's front desk. SDSCs assist the Resident Director with front desk operations, including management of the DSC work schedule, monitoring room keys, ensuring the upkeep of all operations documentation.

Desk Service Coordinator (DSC)

The Desk Services Coordinator serves as the first point of contact for visitors to the residence halls. The role of the DSC is to provide excellent customer service and to facilitate the administrative work of the desk, such as handling keys and conducting check-ins and checkouts.

Facilities Assistant (FA)

The Facilities Assistant works to maintain and improve living conditions in the residence halls. The FA may be asked to move furniture, respond to resident facilities requests, and perform inventory and database upkeep.

Office Assistant (OA)

The Office Assistant serves as the first point of contact for visitors to HRL. The role of the OA is to provide excellent customer service, to provide administrative support to the central office staff, and to assist in office projects and initiatives.

Conference Assistants (CA) summer only

Conference Assistants provide customer service to summer conference guests staying in the residence halls. Conference assistants will perform a variety of functions including preparing residence halls for guest arrival and facilitating check-ins and check-outs for guests.

Residence Hall Association (RHA) & Community Government (CG)

Get involved at Tulane! Living on-campus can be one of the most rewarding experiences while a student. The Department of Housing and Residence Life seeks to provide and support student leadership through organizations to develop leadership skills, participate in a variety of community service events, and positively impact the Tulane community. Some ways you can be involved in your community are the following:

  • All students that live on-campus are considered members of the Residence Hall Association. RHA exists to serve the needs of residents through advocacy and programming as well as work closely with HRL leaders to promote a great residential experience for students.
  • Each residence hall has a Community Government. The CG provides different programming opportunities for residents. They also play an important role in setting the tone in each residence hall by planning social activities and educational programs. You will receive more information about your specific hall council when you move in, or you can contact your area's Residence Director.
