What is Alpha Lambda Delta?

Tulane’s chapter of the national honor society Alpha Lambda Delta (ALD) is an honor society that recognizes first-year female students who attain a 3.5 GPA during their first semester of college and are in the top 20% of their class.

The organization focuses on scholarship, leadership and service. The Newcomb chapter is involved with several service projects on and around campus, and also organizes fun off-campus activities for ALD members.

Alpha Lambda Delta not only makes an outstanding resume shine; it also opens many doors such as internships and community service. Guest speakers from various educational and professional fields often talk about their own life experiences and advice.

In the past, members of Tulane’s Alpha Lambda Delta have been involved with empowering service projects such as Girls on the Run, a healthy life skills running program for 3rd-5th grade girls, providing them to make positive decisions and instilling confidence and joy. Members are required to attend a certain number of meetings and events in order to maintain their membership.

Meetings include group discussions following presentations or about planning future events, always accompanied with delicious food. Events range from insightful, thought-provoking presentations from notable dignitaries visiting Tulane University, to exciting and relaxing events that provide a much needed break from the hectic college atmosphere.
