The Tulane Judo Club is open to Tulane students and members of the Tulane community. Club members who do not have Reily center memberships must pay to enter Reily.

Practices are held in the Uptown Gym, Reily Student Recreation Center

Monday 7:30-8:30 PM

Wednesday 7:30-9:00 PM

Sat 1-2:00 PM

No prior experience with Judo is needed. Men and women are both welcome at our co-ed classes. However, we do request that beginners wishing to join the club do so at the earliest possible time, and no later than 3 weeks into each semester. This ensures that our beginners have learned sufficient skills to practice safely.

Club dues are $20 per semester. Club Dues must be paid by the third practice of the semester. Dues for non-Tulane students are $45 per semester. Inclusion of non-Tulane students in club activities is at the discretion of the club officers and advisors. A Judogi (uniform) is required. If you do not own a judo gi, please wear a sturdy sweatshirt and sweatpants to your first practice (preferably with a drawstring). There are links to several martial arts supply retailers on our links page.

Judo is a full contact martial art and Olympic sport. Judo techniques include throwing, grappling, pinning, choking, and joint locks. Judo provides an excellent full-body strengthening and cardiovascular workout.

Please note:
All club members are expected to treat one another with courtesy and respect, and honor the rules and customs of Kodokan Judo. If any point of the rules and customs governing our practices is unclear, please ask for clarification. We abide by these customs for the sake of courtesy and safety. If you feel that someone is doing something unsafe or causes you to assume too much risk, stop and talk to the person running the class.
