Tulane University and LeaderShape® have partnered to host an annual session of the Institute℠. The Institute℠ is an extensive, six-day leadership development experience for 60 Tulane students introducing participants to personal and group leadership development, goal setting, and action planning. The program includes a combination of working in large groups, participating in smaller group discussions, individual reflection, and most of all, interactive activities and experiences. The Institute includes a diverse group of students from all over campus!

You will receive valuable leadership training and skills that will benefit you during your college career and beyond. You will also have an opportunity to develop and implement a personal vision project intended to benefit a student organization, the campus, or community. Not only is this a great opportunity for you to have an incredible amount of interaction with fellow students and leaders, but you will also spend the week with five staff or faculty members from campus who will serve as small group leaders. In addition, you will have a special opportunity to meet alumni, community, and business leaders from the city of New Orleans.

Tulane’s fifth annual Institute will take place May 13 – May 18, 2018 at Rosaryville Spirit Life Center in Ponchatoula, LA. The Institute takes place the week between the end of finals and Commencement. Students living on campus will be approved for a late check out upon the return from the Institute.

  • This is a FREE program. Participants are asked to invest six days of their time and the rest is taken care of!
  • The program will run from approximately 8 a.m. – 11 p.m. each day, so there won't be much free time.
  • Participants are required to stay on site for the entirety of the program and cannot arrive late or leave early.
  • The Institute is casual! Dress comfortably but plan on bringing one "grubby" outfit (including long pants, socks, and athletic or closed toed shoes) for an outdoor activity on Day 2.
  • Transportation to and from the site will be provided for all participants.

Applications for our 2018 Institute will be available in early spring 2018,

Day 7 is every day after the Institute where graduates of the Institute are encouraged to STAY IN ACTION by applying what they learned during the Institute to create a just, caring, and thriving world where all lead with integrity™ and a healthy disregard for the impossible. Any past participant is encouraged to participate in Day 7 programming.
