Fall Welcome begins with Move-In Day on Friday, August 25, 2017. The first day of classes is Monday, August 28, 2017. Pick up a hard copy of the Move-In Weekend Resource at your student's residence hall on Move-In Day or from the Family Welcome Center in the Lavin-Bernick Center for University Life on Friday, August 25 between 9 am and 2 pm.

Our complete Fall Welcome Schedule is now mobile! Download the app from Google Play and the App Store. The app will serve as your official guide to help you navigate your first couple weeks on campus as well as provide important resources at your fingertips.

  • Android Devices: Search for "Tulane University Fall Welcome" in Google Play
  • iOS Devices: Download the “My School App: Events, Resources, and more!” app in the App Store. Once downloaded, open and type in Tulane University. The app logo will automatically update to be our Fall Welcome logo but will still be called “My School” on your device.



Review the general information below to assist you with your planning and travel.

Friday: Mandatory programming for students will begin Friday evening at 7:45pm and conclude by 10:30pm. There is no programming for families Friday evening.

Saturday: Families are invited to view the President's Convocation for New Students from the Avron B. Fogelman Arena in Devlin Fieldhouse beginning at 10:30am. Students will participate in the ceremony in McAlister Auditorium. Convocation officially begins at 11am and concludes by 12pm. Students and families are invited to attend open houses and deans' receptions hosted by the academic schools in early afternoon. Mandatory programming for students begins at 7:30pm and runs until 11pm. There is no programming for families Saturday evening.

Parents and families are encouraged and welcome to stay through Saturday afternoon, August 26. We understand that your travel arrangements may prevent you from staying with us for the entire weekend and we encourage you to make your travel arrangements as you need. There is no formal "Parent Goodbye" ceremony but we encourage families to plan to depart by Saturday evening.

Sunday: Mandatory programming for students begins at 11am and concludes by 6pm.
