New Student Orientation

Held throughout May and June, New Student Orientation is an opportunity for new first-year students to get vital preparation for the fall semester. All incoming new students are strongly encouraged to attend a New Student Orientation session.

During the overnight two-day program, you will

  • Visit with an advisor to register for courses and learn about Tulane’s curriculum requirements;
  • Meet other new students and form new friendships with classmates;
  • Learn about Tulane expectations regarding student rights and responsibilities;
  • Connect with current student leaders and hear about clubs and organizations on campus;
  • Learn about safety, security, and emergency preparedness in New Orleans;
  • Explore campus life by staying in a residence hall and eating in the campus dining hall;
  • Get your student ID card made; and
  • Tour various housing options, learn about roommate selection, and find a potential roommate.

Each of the nine session dates can accommodate approximately 165 students and up to 2 parents/guardians per student. Sessions will be available on a first-come, first-served basis. The registration site opens on Monday, April 3, 2017 at 12 NOON CST. Unfortunately, we cannot reserve spaces in advance. We recommend that you read the specific background information on dates and fees, schedules, preparation checklists, and lodging/travel resources before you secure a space. We strongly recommend that you wait to make travel arrangements until you reserve your session space, since spaces are first-come, first-served.
