Move-in Weekend

Move-In Day for all first year students is on Friday, August 25, 2017. Programs for parents and families will end on Saturday, August 26, 2017. Parents and families are encouraged and welcome to stay through Saturday afternoon, August 26 to attend the President's Convocation for New Students on Saturday morning and the Academic Schools Open Houses and Deans' Receptions on Saturday afternoon. Programs for parents end by late afternoon Saturday since new students have required educational and transition programs on Sunday, August 27. Fall semester classes start on Monday, August 28. We understand that your family and work commitments may prevent you from staying with us for the entire weekend and we encourage you to make your travel arrangements as you need.

Preparation for Move-In

In mid-July, Housing and Residence Life will email students their residence hall room assignments along with move-in instructions.  The first week of August our Mail Services department will mail and email send students' mailbox numbers and detailed instructions for mailing and shipping packages to campus for Move-In. To learn more about the process, register for our Parent Webinar on Move-In, Shipping and Mail Services scheduled 7 pm CST, Wednesday, August 2, 2017 or watch this video on Move-In Day 2012.

To help keep your student's preparation on track, follow the New Student Summer Checklist for the Class of 2021.

Move-In Weekend Schedule

There will be mandatory programming for new students throughout Move-In Weekend, with more details to be announced later in the spring. Additional programs are planned for new students throughout the first weekend before classes begin and the first three weeks of the fall semester.

You'll be able pick up a hard copy of the Move-In Weekend Guide at your student's residence hall on Move-In Day or from the Family Welcome Center in the Pedersen Lobby of the Lavin-Bernick Center for University Life on Friday, August 25 between 9 am and 2 pm. We will also have a Fall Welcome mobile app that will contain the Move-In and Fall Welcome schedules, maps, and other helpful information.  You will be able to download the full schedule from the App Store and Google Play beginning August 15, 2017.
