Any single line, analog, touch-tone telephone should work with the Tulane system. Cordless phones must NOT run on Bluetooth or 2.4Ghtz. Bluetooth and 2.4 Ghtz phones will cause interference with the wireless network and are not permitted on campus.
3 way calling is available at no charge. Just dial the first person. When you have them on the line, press the flash/hang up button quickly. Call the second person. When you have them on the line, press the flash/hang up button again quickly. All three parties should be connected.
The telephone numbers are associated with the residence hall rooms. Telephone numbers are not transferable.
Caller id and call waiting are already turned on at no charge and voicemail is available at no charge upon request. Students should provide their own caller id box or phone with caller id compatibility. If you do not have one, they are available for purchase in the bookstore. To subscribe to voicemail, please complete the Service Request form and take it to the Telecommunications Office. You will receive your voicemail box number, passcode, and instructions.
When you place a call to an off campus number to a recipient using caller id, the name and number displayed will be Tulane University and your phone number.
Domestic long distance calls are billed at 4 cents a minute. International calls are based on the current rate, which is available to you by calling the Telecommunications office at ext. 5206. Charges are billed monthly through accounts receivable. Bills are available online at http://studentphonebill.tulane.edu/phonebill/login.jsp . Use your long distance code to log in.
