IN MEMORIAM

We dedicate this issue of Tulanian to Karlem “Ducky” Riess and others of the Tulane community who lost their lives as a result of Hurricane Katrina. An emeritus professor of physics and an icon of Tulane University from his many years as a faculty member, student adviser and university marshal, Riess was rescued from his flooded home in the days following the hurricane and died en route to an evacuation center in Shreveport, La. He was 92.
