April is National Cancer Control Month.  Studistrawberry_blueberry[1]es show that a diet rich in antioxidants may help prevent cancer. You should be happy to know and maybe surprised that some of your favorite foods are packed with antioxidants.

  • BENEFICIAL BERRIES Blueberries are filled with antioxidants, potassium and Vitamin C. Strawberries and blackberries also contain antioxidants. When shopping for berries, remember that the darker they are in color, the more antioxidants.
  • TOMATOES Tomatoes have the antioxidant, lycopene.  More and more studies are suggesting that lycopene may stop or hinder the growth of cancer cells. To get the greatest benefit from tomatoes, eat them cooked or processed.
  • DARK CHOCOLATE Who doesn't love to hear that chocolate can actually be good for your health? Dark chocolate is filled with antioxidants. Look for a brand that contains 60% cocoa or higher-the darker the better!
