Summer can be fun, but it is important to remember that safety comes first. Exposure to the sun can do serious damage to your skin, so here are a few tips on how using sunscreen and other sun safety practices can help decrease your risk of skin damage:

Make sure your sunscreen contains SPF protection against UVB rays. The recommended SPF is 30 or more.

Check the sunscreen label for UVA, broad, or multi spectrum protection, since UVA rays can also be harmful to your skin.

Water and sweat resistant sunscreens last longer, but still wear off. Make sure to reapply throughout the day, especially after swimming or sweating.

Wear hats and clothes to protect your skin from sun exposure, especially between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. when UV rays are the strongest.

UV rays are still strong enough to harm your skin on a cloudy day, so make sure you are still protected.
