knowledge stop Healthy Relationships

Uptown (LBC 202) on Wednesday, October 12

Downtown (Tidewater 105) on Tuesday, October 18

TNPRC (Auditorium) on Thursday, October 27

All sessions are from 12:00 pm – 1:00 pm

Seminar Summary:

We often pay the least attention to the relationships in our lives that mean the most to us, trusting the other person will understand and always "be there."  What if that lack of attention- and care – threatens those relationships?  This training will focus on the characteristics of healthy relationships.  It suggests tools that we can use to communicate the investment we're willing to make to have healthy relationships with the significant people in our lives.

Program Highlights:

·       Determine characteristics of healthy relationships.

·       Identify problem areas in relationships.

·       Explore communication techniques to grow and strengthen significant relationships.

The seminar is open to all, but a RSVP is requested

By attending 7 of the 10 scheduled monthly seminars or webinars you will receive $25 at the end of the year as part of the Streetcar to Better Health campaign!

Are you ready for a challenge?

Join the TeamWell 8-Week Wellness Challenge!

ActiveLifestyleStopNeed some motivation going into the holiday season?  Join the next active lifestyle program!  Our last program, Route to Wellness, was a great success.  Over 300 of your colleagues registered and as a group walked over 66 million steps!  The top walker was Candy Legeai, she walked an impressive 1.3 million steps.  Candy's secret is that exercise is a lifestyle choice, she seldom uses her car and instead walks to the Tulane shuttle stop near her house and uses the streetcar and bikes for running errands.  Candy also incorporates a fitness walk or two into her daily schedule and on the weekend walks up to eight miles.  She looks for beautiful places to walk and devises games to keep her walks interesting.  Ready to keep up with Candy?

In the TeamWell Challenge you can earn points with your teammate for eating healthy, engaging in regular physical activity, achieving or maintaining a healthy weight, participating in education opportunities, keeping up-to-date with well visits and preventative screenings. This will be a team program and teams will consist of four Tulane faculty or staff per team.

The program includes:

·       Weekly Challenges

·       Online progress tracking

·       Webinars on various wellness topics

·       Q&A with wellness experts

·       Weekly team prizes

·       $100Visa bank card to the winners*

Program begins on October 10th.   Click here to learn a bit more about the program.

It wouldn't be fair to say that Halloween is only a holiday for children-most adults like treats too!  Here are a few tips on how to make this Halloween a little healthier than the last ones:

It's Halloween, treat yourself, but make sure to check the nutrition labels on the back of candy. You will be surprised at how many calories and grams of fat are in some small piece of candy.

Play a trick on yourself and tell someone at the office or at home to hide your stash of candy. If the candy is out of sight, the temptation is too!

Before Trick or Treating, make sure you and your family have a delicious, healthy and filling dinner. This way no one will be tempted by candy on an empty stomach!

If you insist, opt for "fun size" or "mini" versions of your favorite candies. This is the perfect amount to seize your sweet craving.
