Holiday Pay Reminder

WORKFORCE MANAGEMENT ANNOUNCEMENT

In response to questions we have received about holiday and Winter Recess pay, Workforce Management offers the below clarification:

Below are the pay rules for non-exempt full or part-time employees who have benefits and will work during the remaining holidays in FY14 and Winter Recess.

Pay Rules For Hourly Employees-With-Benefits During The Remaining University Holidays in FY14 (July 1, 2013 Through June 30, 2014):
Individuals who work during the remaining University holidays during FY14 will receive holiday pay (regular pay) plus the overtime rate (1.5 x regular pay) for hours worked on each of these days.  Holiday pay is not used to calculate overtime.

Example:  An employee who works for 4 hours on a holiday will receive 4 hours at the overtime rate (1.5 x regular pay) and 7.5 (8.0) hours at the regular pay rate (1 x regular pay).

 Employee works 4 hours on a Holiday Hours Factor Dollars Amount of pay Hours worked 4 X 1.5 X \$10.00 = \$60.00 Holiday Credit 7.5 X 1.00 X \$10.00 = \$75.00

Pay Rules For Hourly Employees-With-Benefits During Winter Recess Days:

Individuals who work during Winter Recess will receive Winter Recess pay (regular pay) plus the Winter Recess rate (0.5 x regular pay) for hours worked on each of these days.  Winter Recess pay is not used to calculate overtime.

Example:  An employee on a 37.5 schedule who works 4 hours on a Winter Recess day will receive 4.0 hours at the Winter Recess rate (0.5 x regular pay) and 7.5 hours at the regular pay rate (regular pay).

 Employee works 4 hours on a Winter Recess Day Hours Factor Dollars Amount of pay Hours worked 4 X 0.5 X \$10.00 = \$20.00 Winter Recess Credit 7.5 X 1.00 X \$10.00 = \$75.00
