CELT Funding Opportunities


As part of CELT’s mission to provide the Tulane community with resources for engaged learning CELT offers many different kinds of grants and awards to both undergraduate students and faculty. Below you will find the grants and awards divided into four different category based on the CELT cores: Experiential Engagement, Research Engagement, and Classroom Engagement.

Experiential Engagement Funding


Summer Internship Award

The Center for Engaged Learning and Teaching (CELT) Summer Internship Award provides funds to undergraduate students to participate in unpaid or minimally compensated internships that complements their academic and professional goals. Funds up to $1,000 are available for internships located in the U.S., and up to $1,250 for international destinations.

Be prepared to include the following in your application:

Maximum Award Amount: $1,000 nationally, $1,250 internationally

Application Deadline: April 15th, 11:59pm

 

Student-Faculty Collaborative Event Grant

The CELT Student-Faculty Collaborative Event Grant provides funds up to $250 for undergraduate students to co-create and host an event with faculty. The event must facilitate relationship building between faculty and students and may include alumni and other members of the New Orleans community. The event should promote internships, research, or other creative initiatives. Students must engage at least one faculty member to assist with programming efforts. Events can include networking, lectures, panel discussions, etc. Grant funds can be used to purchase food and other costs associated with the event. CELT will also provide guidance in the event’s development upon request.

Maximum Award Amount: $250

Research Engagement Funding


CELT Fund for Faculty/Student Scholarly and Artistic Engagement


To support projects and initiatives that promote faculty and undergraduate student research and scholarly engagement, consistent with Tulane’s mission of outstanding undergraduate education in a research university.

In recognition of the fact that schools and departments often have limited resources to support such initiatives, CELT is calling for proposals that promote scholarly and intellectual relationships between faculty and undergraduate students. This call is broad in scope and includes all fields and disciplines at Tulane University.

Maximum Award Amount: $2,000

Application Deadline: September 20, 2016

 

CELT Fund for Summer Student/Faculty Research, Scholarship and Creative Activities

CELT funding will support projects and initiatives that promote faculty and undergraduate student scholarly engagement, consistent with Tulane’s mission of outstanding undergraduate education in a research university. In recognition of the fact that students often have limited resources for engaging in research on campus during the summer, CELT is calling for proposals that promote scholarly and intellectual relationships between Tulane faculty and undergraduate students during the summer months. This call for proposals includes all fields and disciplines at Tulane University.

Maximum Award Amount: $4,000

Application Deadline: March 17, 2017

 

CELT Conference Presentation Award

CELT awards a limited number of travel grants for undergraduates to fund a portion of their travel costs to present their scholarly endeavors at a professional conference. Request for funds must be received before travel is initiated. Applications are accepted on a rolling basis. The number of awards per year will be made up to the limit of available funds. Eligible travel costs include airfare, hotel, conference registration, and transportation (parking, taxi, fuel costs, train pass, etc.).  Students are eligible for awards up to $250 per academic year.

Classroom Engagement Funding


Classroom Enhancement Grant Notice and Application

Designed to enrich the academic experience for the students by providing faculty resources to be used in or out of the classroom that tie in directly with the material in the course.

Spring Semester Deadline: Closed

 

Faculty Development Grant

Faculty Development Grants are designed to improve the classroom experience for students by supporting faculty in their desire to increase their knowledge of pedagogy in their field.
