Research Interests:
My research focuses on infant mental health issues, developmental psychopathology, and training and policy issues. Most of my work deals with abuse and neglect of infants and toddlers, including identifying risk factors for abuse as well as predictors of successful treatment for abusive parents. Current research projects address assessment of caregiver-infant relationships and resilience in the face of maltreatment. Measuring the effectiveness of various types of mental health interventions with high-risk families, which include very young children, is another interest of mine. Currently I am involved in providing training in infant mental health to professionals who are skilled in working with school-age children, and to public health nurses who work with a variety of at-risk families.
