Research Interests:
I have worked with children and their families with significant medical and psychiatric issues, as well as healthy children and families, throughout my career as a pediatric nurse and clinical child psychologist. I provide direct services, clinical supervision, and training for the pediatric-psychiatry consultation-liaison program, which is a required component of the child psychiatry training and a core rotation for the child psychology internship program. In my work with the LA Office of Public Health, I provide overall clinical direction for the NFP program. I am also involved in program development, professional training, and other initiatives that involve mental health issues related to pregnancy, infancy, and early childhood, including perinatal depression, perinatal loss, mental health screening and consultation, and parent-infant assessment. My research interests include mental health issues in non-mental health settings, implementation issues in nurse home visiting, chronic illness in childhood, professional development, and sexual self-esteem. I have published numerous articles and chapters, and present frequently at local, state, national, and international professional meetings.
