Major and Minor Undergraduate Curriculum

Information for Majors and Minors in Psychology

CHANGE IN PSYCHOLOGY MAJOR COMING FALL 2019:

The psychology department is adopting a new curriculum for psychology majors that will go into effect in Fall 2019. Students who declare their major PRIOR to Fall 2019 have the option of completing the major under the current requirements (see Fall 2018 Major Checklist) or completing the new curriculum (see Fall 2019 Major Checklist). Please schedule a meeting with your major advisor if you would like to discuss how the new curriculum would affect you. If you opt to complete the new curriculum, your major advisor MUST email your academic advisor and ask them to change the “Major Catalog Term” in your audit to “Fall 2019.”

CHANGE IN PSYCHOLOGY MINOR COMING FALL 2019:

The psychology department is adopting a new curriculum for psychology minors that will go into effect in Fall 2019. Students who declare their minor PRIOR to Fall 2019 have the option of completing the minor under the current requirements (see Fall 2018 Minor Checklist) or completing the new curriculum (see Fall 2019 Minor Checklist). Please contact Dr. Laurie O'Brien, lobrien2@tulane.edu, if you would like to discuss how the new minor curriculum would affect you. If you opt to complete the new curriculum, you MUST email Dr. O’Brien so she can arrange to have your academic advisor change your “Minor Catalog Term” in your audit to “Fall 2019.”

CHANGE IN PSYCHOLOGY AND EARLY CHILDHOOD MAJOR COMING FALL 2019:

The psychology department is adopting a new curriculum for Psychology and Early Childhood majors that will go into effect in Fall 2019. Effective Fall 2019, the requirement to take PSYC 3180 Testing and Measurement will be replaced with a requirement to take PSYC 3130 Experimental Psychology. Students who have already declared their Psychology and Early Childhood major can choose to "opt in" to this new curriculum by contacting Dr. Jeff Lockman, lockman@tulane.edu, and having him email their academic advisor.

Please note that due to the high level of overlap between psychology and neuroscience courses, there is a special curriculum for psychology minors who are neuroscience majors described here
