A spectre is haunting Europe—the spectre of Muslim immigration. All the Powers of old Europe have entered into a holy alliance to exorcise this spectre: Social Democrats, Liberal Democrats, Conservatives, Socialists, right-wing populists, Feminists, all types of progressives and radicals, social workers and the Pope. Where is the party in opposition that has not been decried as “soft on immigration” by its opponents in power? Where is the Opposition that has not hurled back the branding reproach of “misunderstood tolerance”, against the more advanced opposition parties, as well as against its reactionary adversaries?
Paraphrased from Marx & Engels, Communist Manifesto,1848
