Michael J. Moore, Ph.D.
Michael was born in Kimball, NE and attended the University of Nebraska
in Lincoln. He received his B.S. in Biological Systems Engineering
shortly after marrying his wife Lisa. They then moved to Rochester, MN,
where Michael attended the Mayo Clinic College of Medicine. He pursued
PhD research in the development of a biodegradable spinal cord implant
under the direction of Prof. Michael Yaszemski and Prof. Anthony
Windebank, and completed his PhD in 2005. Dr. Moore then went to the
Massachusetts Institute of Technology where he conducted postdoctoral
research in drug delivery for retinal neuroprotection under the
direction of Prof. Robert Langer at MIT and Dr. Michael J. Young of the
Schepens Eye Research Institute at Harvard Medical School. Dr. Moore
joined the Tulane Biomedical Engineering faculty as an Assistant
Professor in 2007 and was promoted to Associate Professor with Tenure
in 2013. He became the Weatherhead Professor-in-Residence in 2014 lives
with his wife Lisa and their three children in the Weatherhead
Residential College on the Tulane campus.
