Information-Based Tool for Risk Assessment and Response Preparedness
Our Nation’s transportation systems can be a means for terrorists to deliver attacks, targets for terrorists’ attacks, and lifelines to respond to, and recover from, transportation security incidents. The “openness” of our transportation systems makes them extremely challenging to protect. Another key challenge is how to improve security without impeding commerce and mobility.
To meet these challenges, transportation security solutions should:
Be integrated and avoid stove-piped solutions,
Assess the criticality of transportation infrastructure on a timely basis,
Assess readiness through scenario analyses, and
Provide seamless coordination across all stakeholders (i.e., first-responders, carriers/shippers, port operators, traffic management centers).
This presentation will discuss the concept of an
information-based decision-support tool for risk assessment and response
preparedness.
