Entergy Operations, Inc.
William A. Eaton became vice president of engineering for Entergy Nuclear South
on April 7, 2003. He is charged with the overall responsibility for the region’s
centralized engineering and support groups based at nuclear headquarters in
Jackson, Miss., and at the four plant sites within the region.
Previously, Eaton had served as vice president of operations at Entergy’s Grand
Gulf Nuclear Station, Port Gibson, Miss., since 1998. There, he was responsible
for the overall operational responsibility of the plant. Before that time, Eaton
served as Grand Gulf’s general manager of operations from 1996 to 1998, with
responsibility over daily plant operations, maintenance, engineering, radiation
protection, security and industrial safety.
Before he joined Grand Gulf, Eaton worked at Entergy’s Arkansas Nuclear One in
Russellville, Ark., holding three management positions: plant manager for unit
2, 1994-1996; director of design engineering, 1991-1994; and mechanical, civil
and structural design manager, 1988-1991.
Eaton also was a mechanical engineering manager, 1986-1988, and mechanical
engineering supervisor, 1983-1986, at Arkansas Power and Light, (the forerunner
company of Entergy Arkansas, Inc.) where he was
responsible for nuclear plant design and project management.
Prior to joining the company in 1982, Eaton was a project manager for Mehlburger,
Tanner, Renshaw and Associates in Arkansas, 1977-1982; district engineer,
engineering division, at the Arkansas State Department of Health, 1975-1977; and
an engineer with the City Water and Light Company in Jonesboro, Ark., 1972-1975.
He earned a Bachelor of Science degree in chemical engineering from the
University of Arkansas in 1972. Eaton also completed the Institute of Nuclear
Power Operations’ senior plant manager course in 1994, has been an Arkansas
registered professional engineer since 1977, and is past chairman of the
Combustion Engineering Owners Group’s plant
managers group. He is a member of the Boiling Water Reactor Owner’s Group’s
Executive Oversight Committee. Eaton also serves on the PMMP Executive Committee
which is the PWR analog to the BWRVIP, is a member of the NEI Materials
Technical Advisory Group, and is a member of the Materials Executive Oversight
Group. |
